Heat Endurance Camp
Long days in the heat, with the water always there to come back to.
House of Triathlon camp · Hội An 2026
About This Camp
August on the south-central coast is hot and long, and the bay is what makes it trainable: sheltered water within reach of the accommodation, every morning, whatever the open sea is doing. Coastal volume through the day, the option of the inland climb for anyone who wants it, and evenings spent on what actually failed in the heat. The second Nha Trang week of the year, and not the same camp as May: May is a climb week with swimming, August is an endurance week with heat.
Camp Focus
Endurance volume held together in summer conditions. Heat exposure like the July camp, but on flatter, longer roads and with a sheltered bay for daily swim work: the endurance version of heat training rather than the intensity version.

What these sessions are
- Arrival
- Land, build the bike, meet the group. Nothing is trained on the first day.
- Evening debrief
- The group sits down with the coaches: the day's data, pacing, fuelling, and what changes tomorrow.
- Open water
- Sea or sheltered-water swimming as a group, with cover on the water.
- Endurance ride
- Steady aerobic riding, at a pace you could hold all day. Most of a camp week is this.
- Easy run
- Running kept genuinely easy, off the bike or on its own.
- Long ride
- The long day on the bike. Route recced before you arrive, support vehicle following.
- Recovery
- Mobility, an easy swim, or nothing. The session that makes the next hard one possible.
- Run intervals
- Structured running: repetitions and controlled recoveries.
- Free
- Nothing scheduled. The afternoon is yours.
- Climbing block
- Sustained uphill work, on the best climbing road the base has.
- Departure
- Bikes packed, transfers out. The camp closes on the Friday it opened on.
Indicative structure, not a contract. Sessions move for the weather, the sea and the group that turns up. There are deliberately no durations, distances or intensities here: those get written for the athletes actually on the camp, once the coaches have seen them train.
The destination
About Nha Trang / Cam Ranh
Best season
February-August (before the autumn rains)
Terrain
Bay / Coastal + climb
A long sheltered bay dotted with islands, an international airport at Cam Ranh, and the Khanh Le pass rising inland towards Da Lat: a rare combination of flat coastal volume and a genuinely long climb from the same base.
Why train here
The bay gives protected water for open-water sets that hold up even when the open coast does not. The coast road south towards Cam Ranh is long, wide and rideable; turn inland instead and the road to Da Lat climbs for over 30km. Cam Ranh (CXR) takes international flights, so the road from the plane to the first session is short.
